Driver: San Francisco - a complex game

Driver: San Francisco is a game developed by Ubisoft Reflections and published by Ubisoft. It was announced in June 2010. Driver series began in 1999 when the studio Reflections (now Ubisoft Reflections) launched the game Driver that could only be played on PlayStation, a year later they have released the version for PC and Nintendo.

This game fits better in the arcade section, even though all 140 cars are licensed. Even the "shift" mechanism is moving the game to this section of games. In this game are present also other characteristics of arcade games: crazy speeds, spectacular accidents - click for details. However, there is a certain contradiction with the arcade orientation of the game and this is how certain cars respond to commands. They are either too sensitive or too cumbersome, you will see awkward controls, along with the excessive scripting of missions that will most certainly lead to quite frustrating moments during the game. The humor in Driver: San Francisco is quite successful and fun for a racing car game - see simple steps.

In Driver: San Francisco, players have the opportunity to re-enter in the skin of Detective John Tanner, whose obsession - killer Charles Jericho - is not giving him some peace. The killer managed to escape from an armored car while being transported to another prison, so there will be a follow up on the streets of San Francisco and an accident will occur. Tanner gets into a hospital bed in a deep coma.

On his hospital bed, the detective will live every single day frustrations through a dream in which Tanner is trying to capture Jericho. Tanner discovers that he has a new ability, so besides being a good detective is now a very good driver, and now he has the opportunity to leave his own body and enter into bodies of other drivers who are in traffic. This skill called, Shift, opens a new game play approach, an approach that has never been seen in these types of games - see best approach.

The detective's adventure takes places on eight chapters, and covering them can be done quickly. Each chapter has a purpose, a main mission that can unlock some optional missions. They can be divided in three categories: missions where you will have to do stunts, missions where you will have to race and missions where you will have to solve cases for the police.

Some players have stated the fact that this game has many similarities with GTA games, but I totally disagree with them. This game is better made than all GTA games played by me so far. Driver: San Francisco is most certainly a game that really needs to be played.
